Tassonomia

Il sistema Cronquist assegnava all'ordine Arales due mwfwfamiglie:

• mwggAraceae
• mwhaLemnaceae

La famiglia delle Lemnaceae non viene riconosciuta dalla mwhgclassificazione APG che incorpora i generi relativi nella famiglia delle mwhwAraceae (sottofamiglia Lemnoideae), appartenente all'ordine mwiqAlismatales.cite-ref-apgiv-2-1[2]

Alle Araceae veniva attribuito anche il mwjwgenere mwkamwkqAcorus, attualmente segregato in una famiglia a sé stante (mwkgAcoraceae).
